Wound Care Services
The global cost of wound care is high and constantly increasing. This has necessitated specialists and healthcare organisations to seek more accurate and efficient ways to improve assessment, education, management and prevention strategies in wounds and to maintain healthy skin particularly within our ageing population.

Did you know that the skin is the largest organ of the body?  Its major functions are to protect underlying cells, prevent bacteria from entering the body, provide sensations of pressure, touch, pain and temperature, regulate body temperature and assist in preventing fluid loss. Alterations to these major functions may increase risk of wound development and/or the healing of existing wounds.

The Wound Management Practice at Lighthouse Health Group provides essential patient care in a holistic patient-focused manner (consistent, safe and timely) to ensure that the largest organ of your body is appropriately cared for.

Our Wound Management practice aims to provide universal access to ‘evidence-based’ and ‘best-practice’ wound management advice 24 hours-a-day, seven days-a-week, 365 days a year.  It incorporates:
  • Comprehensive Assessment
  • Training and Education
  • Resource Support
  • Treatment and Management
  • Prevention Strategies

We are a member of the Australian Wound Management Association (AWMA) and believe that all people with a wound, or those who are likely to develop a wound, are entitled to receive personal care and expert management that is supported by current validated research.

eHealth Services

Lighthouse Health Group uses the very latest in advanced communication technology (photography, video-taping, telephone and computer transmissions) to cost-effectively assess and manage chronic wounds in any location within Australia.

The way our eHealth service operates is quite simple and straight-forward.  Normally all our referrals are made by telephone and we in return, provide a quotation and/or confirmation of referral acceptance by email (and post).  For those clients where their location poses significant logistical or financial difficulties in being able to receive a personal home visit, we revert to receiving a digital photographic image of the wound.  Files can be either JPeg, BmP or TiF which are enhanced at our office.

We provide a written report of all our assessments which include recommended treatment and management protocols, as well as the suggested dates for any further reviews. In some cases where we suspect that a client's immediate environment may have an impact on clinical outcomes we request a video-recording be made of certain rooms and/or furniture/fixtures.  This recording is then sent via email to our office for analysis.

Our eHealth portal uses dedicated Microsoft Exchange servers located in our National Head Office.  These powerful computers are password-protected and offer state-of-the-art security and privacy for all electronic client files (to access the eHealth Portal, please use the button provided above).

Clients who require wound dressings may order these directly from us.  Lighthouse Health Group can help you to create a ‘start-up’ account for a more cost-effective rate on dressings (and delivered to your home). Please use the 'Download Order Form' button on this page to obtain the order form.
