'Health & Wealth' Services

Lighthouse Health Group formed a strategic alliance with Ability One Pty Ltd in March 2005 in response to many of our clients requiring financial planning support following the settlement of their injury claims.

Ability One was formed in 1998 as a financial and life planning company, specialising in managing the affairs of clients with an acquired or congenital disability. The joint alliance between ourselves and Ability One has allowed them to provide a unique service offering, the quality of, which we believe, other financial planning companies cannot match.

The number one difference Ability One and can offer over other financial planning companies is the integration of our Life Care Planning reports into the client’s financial plan, whilst continuing rehabilitation support post-settlement.

Ability One’s extensive service offering is modelled on what our clients and families say they actually need post-settlement. In recent times, other financial planners have tried to duplicate our holistic service model but we invite you to discuss your case with Ability One and learn first-hand why our model is so unique.

Things to Check When Comparing Financial Planning Companies

  • Does your financial planner consider your client’s individual rehabilitation; medical needs; and costs?
  • Check that your financial planner has first-hand experience and a track record of managing clients with a serious disability. Don’t be their first!
  • Ensure your financial planner is not going to be intimidated by the size of the funds to be invested
  • Does your financial planner have the experience to accurately capture and cost all allied health needs, including care?
  • Can your financial planner be appointed alongside a Private Trustee on a compensation trust?
  • Check that your financial planner has a Quality Assurance Certificate and that the financial planner is audited externally
  • Check that your financial planner has a group of allied health professionals who are available to assist with meeting your allied health and rehabilitation needs on an ongoing basis
  • Check that your financial planner has a similar network where you can contact other people living in the community living with a similar disability to yours
  • Is your financial planner engaging a Case Manager, local to you, who is available 24 hours every day, with the relevant experience to understand the uniqueness of your particular injury or disability?
  • Check that you are accessing a team of Allied Health professionals and not just a sub-contracted external therapist who is not local
  • Check that your financial plan is in plain English language and easily able to be read and understood
  • Check that your financial planner is providing regular Allied Health and rehabilitation reviews
  • Check to ascertain whether your financial planner provides a specific wound management service, which may be required by you
  • Ask what other financial planners charge for their plan
